Well, having good lines is extremely important in ballet, so…a certain amount of sacrifice is necessary. I’m not talking about full out starving, but restricting a bit if one feels they have weight they need to shed. Seriously. The girls next to me were just trying them on (since our teacher was curiously absent) and by the time I got them back, they were damp. And smelly. Plus one of the girls was, um, larger and had much wider feet than I do, so she probably also totally stretched them out.
